ARCADIA, Calif. -- The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College
of Surgeons (ACoS) recently granted a Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation
to the cancer program at USC Arcadia Hospital.

“We are extremely pleased to receive this accreditation from the
American College of Surgeons,” said Ginamarie Farino, Director of
Oncology Services at USC Arcadia Hospital. “This recognition is a
true reflection of the hard work of the skilled doctors, nurses and staff
at USC Arcadia Hospital who provide compassionate, high quality care to
	 our patients every day.”
To earn voluntary CoC accreditation, a cancer program must meet or exceed
34 CoC quality care standards, be evaluated every three years through
a survey process, and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of
comprehensive patient-centered care. Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation
is only awarded to a facility that exceeds standard requirements at the
	 time of its triennial survey.
As an accredited cancer center, USC Arcadia Hospital takes a multidisciplinary
approach to treating cancer as a complex group of diseases that requires
consultation among many specialists including surgeons, medical and radiation
oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, pathologists, and other cancer specialists.
This multidisciplinary approach is recognized nationally as a way to improve
	 patient outcomes, said Farino.
“At USC Arcadia Hospital, we have worked hard to build a place where
cancer patients can find a comforting environment that encourages them
to focus on healing,” Farino said. “In addition, the hospital’s
approach to care includes treating the ‘whole person,’ which
means by tending to the patient’s physical, emotional, social, and
spiritual needs. Treatment is not just about healing the physical body
with medication and procedures but about using all resources to improve
	 the spirit as well.”
USC Arcadia Hospital offers the most advanced cancer diagnostics, treatment
	 and personalized care, including:
- Treatment for all aspects of care, including chemotherapy, surgery, pain management and cancer support groups
 - Diagnosis through a state-of-the-art 320-slice CT scanner that produces 4D images
 - A 36-bed inpatient oncology unit dedicated to providing comprehensive care and treatment for adults with cancer
 - Specialty care through the USC Arcadia Hospital Colorectal Surgery Institute, which provides world-class treatment of colorectal diseases, and the Methodist Hospital GYN Oncology Institute, which provides services for women with GYN cancers and other disorders
 - Positive Appearance Center that provides personal consultations to help manage changes that come with healing during and after treatment for cancer and other diseases.
 - Lung cancer screenings through the USC Arcadia Hospital Lung Screening Center of Excellence which offers a low-dose CT scan that is quick, easy, and painless with minimal exposure to radiation.
