Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation

Pelvic floor rehabilitation is a specialized physical therapy program that
focuses on strengthening, stretching and releasing the pelvic floor. An
individualized assessment will be completed and a treatment program will
be created to improve function and quality of life.
What is the Pelvic Floor?
Pelvic floor is a group of muscles, ligaments, connective tissues, and
nerves that is located at the base of hips, also known as the pelvis.
What does the Pelvic floor do?
- Support organs such as bladder, vagina, rectum,
- uterus, prostate, and colon
- Urinary and fecal continence
- Sexual functions
- Stability for posture and breathing
What is Pelvic Floor Dysfunction?
Pelvic floor dysfunction occurs when the pelvic floor is weakened, tightened,
and/or lengthened causing pain, and/or urinary/fecal incontinence, and
other problems.
