ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2022) -- The USC Arcadia Hospital Foundation
is thrilled to share that Crystal Ball 2022 will honor longtime hospital
supporter Paul Rusnak when the black-tie event returns to the Pasadena
Convention Center on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 5.
The 33rd annual Crystal Ball will once again feature a hosted reception,
fine dining, a silent auction, a remarkable live auction, live entertainment,
and plenty of dancing. Co-chairs for the event will be Dick and Sue Hale,
who for years have been great supporters of the hospital with both their
time and philanthropy.
Proceeds from this year’s Crystal Ball will support the development
and operation of a robotic surgery program at USC Arcadia Hospital. The
hospital is embarking on a program to update technology, transform surgical
services and take the next step forward in our constant journey toward
unsurpassed quality care.
“This advanced DaVinci platform expands the hospital’s surgical
capabilities and provides patients with a highly desirable alternative
to open surgery,’ said Mike Driebe, President of the USC Arcadia
Hospital Foundation. “Our robotics program will initially treat
patients requiring prostate surgery or gynecologic surgery. As standards
of care evolve, patients at our hospital may eventually be treated robotically
for such conditions as gallbladder disease, pancreatic cancer, obesity,
stomach cancers, and colorectal conditions.”
In addition to helping support the development and operation of the robotic
surgery program, funds raised at Crystal Ball will also help provide training
for nurses and clinical staff, as well as provide the technology and equipment
needed to sustain the hospital’s robotic capabilities in the future.
Crystal Ball Title Sponsors for this year include Keck Medicine of USC
and Rusnak Auto Group - Paul Rusnak. Crystal Ball Grand Sponsors include
Bel Air Investment Advisors; Evergreen Auto Parts & Lucy Paris; Panda
Restaurant Group, Inc.; Premier Coach; and Mickey and Lee Segal &
Alan and Sandy Whitman.
Entertainment for the fun-filled evening will feature Bonnie Foster Productions
which will showcase high energy, world-class performances from a variety
creative artist and a wide range of musical genres.
Crystal Ball Honoree Paul Rusnak has always felt obligated to help others
and is grateful for the opportunities offered to him in his life, so he
felt supporting the hospital was a noble cause for the entire community.
But it was when his only brother, and then years later his oldest daughter,
ended up in the Critical Care Unit at the hospital that he understood
firsthand the importance of a first-class hospital to serve the community.
Rusnak hopes his involvement will demonstrate to others the importance
of this priceless, life-saving cause. He notes that all the money in the
world cannot buy health, but it can provide the facility, equipment and,
most importantly the clinical staff who can provide needed healthcare services.
