Mardi Gras in May Food Festival
Our “Mardi Gras in May” Food Festival will be held on Tuesday,
May 9 at 6 p.m. at Sirona’s Restaurant in Santa Anita Park. It is
a wonderful tradition to celebrate Mardi Gras. This year is our 28th anniversary featuring gourmet food from popular restaurants in the San
Gabriel Valley with live music, a silent auction, festive costumes, offering
libations and the celebratory parade! Prepare to have a wonderful time
and fun with friends for a worthy cause!
We are excited to share that this year’s King of Mardi Gras is Dr.
Sam Chia! A physician who has been active at USC Arcadia Hospital since
1999 and has served in many leadership roles starting in 2007. Dr. Chia
was the Chief of Medical Staff in 2020 and served on the hospital board
that same year. Dr. Chia has been on the Medical Executive Committee for
seven years as Vice Chief for Staff, Secretary/Treasurer, and Credentials
Committee Chair.
Dr. Sam Chia has a private practice and shares an office in Arcadia with
Dr. James Lin. He is highly respected by his colleagues and highly regarded
by his patients. Many of his patients describe him as kind, compassionate
and a strong advocate of his patient’s overall wellbeing.
This year’s fundraising event will support the purchase of a second
Bi-Plane Imaging System for USC Arcadia Hospital. On average, every 40
seconds someone in the United States has a stroke. To survive, immediate
care at an approved stroke center is critical. Strokes are a leading cause
of death and long-term disability in the United States. USC Arcadia Hospital
is a Comprehensive Stroke Center and to meet the growing needs of our
community, our hospital must replace our oldest Bi-plane imaging system,
a key piece of equipment necessary for performing life-saving procedures.
The cost of acquiring a Bi-plane imaging system is approximately $3 -
$3.5 million!
Your support gets us closer to reaching our goal!
